Join us May 4th, as we celebrate the Kentucky Derby, the South’s oldest sporting event. All kids 8 and under are invited to compete in stick horse races. Winners of each race will receive a certificate and a rose. There will be a hat contest for ladies. Winner will get roses. Trains will depart with a live performance of Stephen Foster’s state song, ‘My Old Kentucky Home, Goodnight,’ and a live musician’s call to post.
Whistle Stop, located inside the historic depot, will serve traditional Derby Day food in the restaurant.
The trip will last approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hour, in an 8 mile round trip journey into Kentucky’s coal country

Train ticket also includes visitation to the McCreary County Museum which is located in the 1907 Stearns Coal & Lumber Company office building. Check the Museum's hours of operation to plan your visit before or after the train ride. more >>>
